In order to fight BYU, $20,000 is needed. This is why other students never challenge BYU. Who has that kind of money? So many other students have been in a similar situation, and have lost out on a valuable education and their financial resources.
BYU has unethical laws written into their "honor code", so they continue to treat students unfairly. BYU is owned by the Mormon Church. Mormon Church leaders do not teach fairness - they teach strict obedience. Mormon followers are taught to NEVER question the leaders decisions, ever.
The purpose of raising funds and asking for donations is to ignite pubic involvement in this cause to ensure Hardy can continue to take a stand without the financial chokehold of the church.
